Thank you for taking the time to participate in our different events.  We appreciate your support and continue to enjoy celebrating these events with each and every one of you.  We hope to continue to grow all of these celebrations and charity events in the years to come.  Here are some of the photos that were taken at Harborfest, Cock Island Race, and The Folds of Honor Event / 4th of July Celebration.

MARINA DAYS & SUNTEX DAYS

Saturday, July 22nd
Stop by any of the Suntex Marina offices and enjoy a continental breakfast on us.  Additional events will be held and posted the week before the 22nd.

National Marina Day is a nationwide boating event dedicated to growing boating participation across North America.  Marine businesses collaborate to hold events to introduce the public to boating through on-water and landside activities at marinas in every corner of the country.  This year, National Marina Day is now National Marina Days: Summer of Giving.  From Memorial Day to Labor Day, marinas across the country are asked to give back to any charity of their choice.  The Association of Marina Industries is proud to suggest Folds of Honor.  Find out more about Folds of Honor at

Broker’s Corner

Tidewater Marina is the southern Chesapeake headquarters of North Point Yacht Sales, with other offices in Annapolis and Charleston. The senior broker in Portsmouth is Peter Bass, an experienced cruising sailor, powerboater and boat builder who served as Production Manager of Hinckley Yachts in Southwest Harbor, Maine in the 70’s. Here’s this issue’s tip:

Getting value from your boat
It’s July and my message this month is short: Use your boat!
My clients often ask what they need to do to maximize the value of their boats. The question often comes when they are thinking about selling, which is usually brought on by the infrequency of use. My first answer is “The best way to get value out of your boat is to use it.” Try to re-discover why you got a boat in the first place.
Brokers are always looking for clean, well-maintained boats to sell; it’s how we make a living. We’ll be here when you want to sell, but my advice for July is getting out there and have fun. Using your boat also points out what maintenance should be done if you do decide to sell. See you on the water!
